1. Inability to attribute ROI and predict revenue impact. With marketing representing a significant expense, ThinkUp lacked the real-time attribution needed to see the direct influence of their marketing moves. Without a clear lifecycle and the ability to track which channels users were exposed to before taking action, the company could not reliably scale paid acquisition or predict the ROI of their growth efforts.
2. Fragmented data and technical system debt. The lack of full integration between ThinkUp’s proprietary platform, Mixpanel and HubSpot created a significant data gap. This fragmentation, combined with existing system bugs and the absence of a proper separation between user and lead statuses, prevented the team from accurately documenting user touchpoints or maintaining a clean, manageable database.
